There are couples that just love Valentine's Day and go all out on this specific day every year and there are couples that rebel against Valentine's Day because it is corporation stuff, not a holiday.
I don't care. I usually forgot it was Valentine's Day until somebody tells me it is today. I love Valentine's Day. I don't like Valentine's Day.
Sure, businesses take advantage of Valentine's Day and turned this holiday into something that you are required to buy flowers and chocolate for a significant other. People get mushy during the day, unnecessarily. I don't mind PDA as long they are limited to hugs and sweet kisses, none of those groping and wet kisses. People get stupid with love on this specific day, they are already stupid with love on any other day but they get stupider on Valentine's Day.
But, people get courage on this day to confess their love. On other day, for some reason, people usually don't have guts to confess until on Valentine's Day. This day is like all or nothing chance. I like it, because this day is capable of encouraging people to be brave with their feelings and express them freely on this specific day.
I know it is a bit silly that it is limited to one day but, some people just can't bring themselves to express freely and this day gives them a chance to suck it up and express what they're feeling.
For me, Valentine's Day is not just a day for people in love, it is for the love of everything.
Since I am newly single and I didn't expect anything for Valentine's Day even though I was going on a Valentine's Day dinner with my roommates and their significant others. All I expected on that day was a nice but awkward dinner on Valentine's Day. It turned out, I received gifts and notes from my friends. I don't have anything for them but they wanted nothing from me but my happiness.
This is why I love Valentine's Day. It reminds me how great and precious my friends are to me.
